The Breve Name

In August of 2020, founder Kristin Pettis was in the process of launching a new online clothing store and was having trouble coming up with a name. While talking to a close friend over coffee, her friend suggested the name Breve. Starbucks baristas worldwide will recognize the word as meaning half and half, while those with a deep love of coffee may know it as 'Breve coffee', a drink which is equal parts espresso and half and half. Either way, the essence of Breve is the half and half aspect. As someone who is half black and half white (or "half and half"), Kristin felt a connection to Breve and was sold on the name. After taking a hiatus due to the birth of her son, Kristin was ready to bring Breve back in 2023, this time with a focus on creating a collection of clothing inspired by coffee, its colors, and its many varieties.
